Skills for those facing redundancy

This project supports Priority Axis 2 for ESF Investment Priority 2.1 enhancing equal access to lifelong learning. The need has been identified in the Marches LEP and European Structural and Investment Fund.

Investment Priority 2.1 supports equal access to lifelong learning for all age groups in formal, non-formal and informal settings, upgrading knowledge, skills and competences of the workforce. It promotes flexible learning pathways including career guidance and accredited qualifications.

There are three themes:

  • Skills Support for the Workforce
  • Apprenticeship Brokerage Services
  • Skills Support for Redundancy

The programme is managed by Riverside Training based in Hereford as the bid lead of the Marches Skills Provider Network (MSPN) who deliver employer training across the whole of the Marches area with a wide range of qualifications and modules to degree level.

Riverside and partners link closely with the Marches LEP’s Hereford, Shrewsbury and Telford Growth Hubs and the employers engaged with the Growth Hub. Focus on workers, older workers, lone parents, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities and other disadvantaged groups in the Marches area. Recruitment is from referrals from public and private sector employers, relevant local economic partners and the Marches LEP’s Growth Hub.

Apprenticeships Shropshire & Herefordshire

The project is delivered in conjunction with rural partners providing innovative ways of overcoming the transport / travel / broadband / outreach issues which face Herefordshire and Shropshire.

The partners have current, successful strategic and operational relationships in place with the skills leads from the three Authorities, JCP, SFA, Chambers of Commerce and National Careers Service and partners are represented on the three Business Boards, LEP and its boards, to deliver the training required by the Marches Employers.
